Overview

Millbrook Resort is New Zealand’s leading lifestyle resort, with a diverse and multi-entity business requiring strong financial reporting, controls and commercial support.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed-term basis while we undertake an accounting-system implementation. This is a hands-on role that will take ownership of key business-as-usual finance workstreams, support the delivery of accurate month-end reporting and help ensure strong financial controls and reliable service to the wider business.

Working closely with our Finance Manager, CFO, Financial Accountant and wider Finance team, you will quickly become a trusted senior resource, providing technical accounting expertise, practical support and sound commercial insight throughout the fixed-term period.

What will your day look like?

• Taking ownership of key financial accounting workstreams, including month-end and year-end processes, management reporting, journals, reconciliations and general ledger integrity
• Coordinating month-end deliverables and preparing accurate financial reports, management accounts and supporting schedules
• Managing intercompany accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, tax compliance, fixed assets and other key financial control processes
• Providing analysis and commercial insight across financial results, cashflow, budgets, forecasts and departmental performance
• Maintaining strong financial controls, audit-ready records and accurate financial data across our systems
• Providing technical guidance and practical financial support to the Finance team and wider business, while contributing to system implementation activities where required

What makes you right for the role?

• A CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification is essential
• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• At least five years' relevant experience in financial accounting, management reporting or external audit, including ownership of month-end financial reporting
• Strong technical accounting capability across general ledger, journals, reconciliations, financial reporting and month-end close
• Good working knowledge of applicable accounting standards and New Zealand tax compliance requirements
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across ERP and financial reporting systems
• Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and a sound financial control mindset
• The ability to quickly understand a complex environment, work with limited supervision and manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Experience within a multi-entity environment, ERP implementation or finance transformation would be advantageous
